After a quarter of a century, I've finally finished my homework! ... and I'm handing it in to you! Strangely, the last time someone did homework like this, it was the year 522! Yep, that's about the year our current number system called Hindu-Arabic numerals was started by a super-smart Indian guy call Aryabhata*. And by the way, awesome job dude! You eventually managed to knock off Roman Numerals. Kudos to you! Now,
some 1,486 years later, it's time for an update. So as I'm an Aussie,
I've simply called my project - Australian Numerals. You see after 25 years I had
a Homer moment and went D'oh! I'd solved how
to simplify our number system! So why
didn't anybody think of this before? After 25 years of pursuing my
crazy quest and lots of hard math homework - just one flash of
inspiration! As they say, better late then never! * His book title 'Aryabhatiya' was translated into Arabic around 820 by Al-Khwarizmi, whose 'On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals' was in turn influential in the adoption of the Hindu-Arabic numerals in Europe from the 12th century. Source:
